Shipment of Taiwan's LCD Monitors in Q1 decreased by 6.3% in 2018

According to relevant data, Taiwan's LCD shipments fell by 6.3% to 20 million units in the first quarter of 2018.

However, Taiwan’s share of global LCD shipments rose slightly in the first quarter of 2018. The main reason for this trend is that South Korean peer companies are trying to increase revenue rather than increase shipments, resulting in Korean companies’ This quarter's market share dropped significantly.

Regarding product size, shipments of 22-inch and larger LCD monitors rose slightly from the previous quarter in the first quarter of 2018, revealing that the development of personal computer monitors will continue to be dominated by large-size models.

In terms of output value, the output value of LCD monitors in Taiwan has fallen by more than unit shipments, reflecting the fact that the quarterly average selling prices have only declined due to a slight drop in panel prices and a slowdown in the expansion of display scale during the quarter.

For individual companies, Qisda performed quite stable in the first quarter, even achieving a double-digit annual growth rate. Foxconn's shipments remained stable during the quarter. For the second quarter of 2018, due to seasonal demand, most Taiwanese display makers may see an increase in shipments.

After experiencing a 2.8% decline to 120 million units in 2017, global LCD monitor shipments are expected to continue to decline by 2-3% in 2018. However, Qisda is expected to continue its double-digit growth rate in 2018.
