Liu Zihong: Today I want to tell you about the experience of Rouyu in the past few years. I will talk about some thoughts on the future of information technology and advanced manufacturing. The topic of my speech is "Soft", which is the word we thought of not long ago. Our technology has a lot to do with the word "soft". How to soften and bend things, such an important theme, this "dao", one is the understanding of our growth in the past few years and the thinking of the industry.


Some friends may not be so familiar with Rouyu. I will use this picture to introduce the development history of Rouyu. We first thought of the general direction of flexible display and flexible electronics, which can be traced back to 2006, and it has been more than ten years. When I graduated from Tsinghua to Stanford, I thought of such a thing on the grass. But we solve the problem of perception and interaction between people and people, people and things, people and nature. After I graduated from Ph.D. in 2009, I went to work in IBM in New York for 3 years. In 2012, I brought two Tsinghua + Stanford alumni to create this company, called Rouyu Technology. Our mission is to make people better understand the world through technological innovation. In 2014, the team's joint efforts were made to release the world's thinnest flexible display of 0.01 mm. In fact, in 2014, many people may not know that there is such a company. Until August 1, 2014, we officially released a flexible display of 0.01 mm, and everyone suddenly noticed us, many industries, Including the display industry, including the consumer electronics industry, many people ran to our company, because many people thought that this thing was very far away, it might take twenty years, thirty years to make it, but did not expect a company suddenly Come out, let's see if this is true or not. Later, I saw that this technology was really made. You can also feel that from the beginning of 2014, the entire consumer electronics industry and the display industry have shifted to the direction of flexibility and surface.


In 2015, we rebuilt a production line in Shenzhen through a second-hand factory. This production line was actually put into production in 2015, including many sensor technologies, display modules, and terminals in Shenzhen Longgang. Mass production on the production line. In 2015, we also released the first B2C product, which is the product of Rouyu own brand, so in fact, the business model of Rouyu has always been the “B2B+B2C” model. On the one hand, we give each line Businesses offer such solutions, and on the other hand, we also have our own branded end products.


In 2016, we launched the first large-scale fully flexible display production line, which was in 2016 and also in Shenzhen, with a total investment of about $1.7 billion. In 2017, we released a platform called “Flexible+”, which is a standard technical solution for flexible display and flexible sensing, which is combined with various industries to create a new product and user experience. In fact, the "flexible +" products and solutions are not a concept. In the past few years, we have already put a lot of products and solutions, and now we have sold to many countries.


In 2018, at the beginning of this month, our six-generation full-flexible display mass production line was officially put into operation in Shenzhen. This thing may have been seen in the news broadcast of the first two weeks. The news broadcast has been played twice. This is really a very important thing for Rou Yu. Many people may have felt a technology from the past. 0 to 1, this is a phase, can it be another phase from 1 to N. The large-scale mass production of this production line should be officially declared that our independent intellectual property rights technology and original technology are both technological innovation and fully industrialized. This year we also completed the financing of the E round. In terms of valuation, the E round is about $5 billion.


Speaking of this, I want to share with you our experience from 0 to 1 and from 1 to N. In fact, in many industries today, the first thing that everyone cares about is how big this N is. Everyone cares about how big your company’s N is, your size is good, your sales are good, your quantity Production capacity is good, but many times we have forgotten how this N came. We often add money from 1 to N, plus people, plus management can make it. This is a very important thing, but this one 1 If it is not our own, if this 1 is moved from the outside, you will often find that a company looks large, but like a paper kite, it looks like it is flying high, but it rains. It's easy to kneel down. I think everyone has a deeper understanding of these things recently.


So we don't just focus on the size of N. N is of course important, but we have to focus on the whole process. The 0 to 1 segment is usually a very, very decisive segment. At the time of its establishment, Rouyu completely touched the river and crossed the river. There is no reference at all, and there is no ready-made thing. Let us copy it directly or enlarge it, touch the stone and cross the river, from the basic raw materials to the craft. , to the device, to the circuit, to the product design. In this process, in many cases, some directions that I didn't think of at all, I ran out slowly as you progressed. This is not easy for us from 0 to 1. Of course, there are many that don't understand, sometimes there is no When a N is big enough, many people have doubts and feel very shocked. But only 0 to 1 is not enough. If it is only 0 to 1, many times it will be misunderstood that this is just a concept. So there is a good technical direction, each of our teams should also work hard to turn 0 to 1 into a large enough N, I think in the latest production line, it is also a good for 1 to N. prove.


This video has been seen by many people. This is a phased result from the 0 to 1 process. In 2014, a flexible display of 0.01 mm was released. After this release, it really changed my personal life, as well as the life of many people in the soft-wool team. It seems that Luo Yu was pushed to the fast lane. I used to write very e-mail every time. Complete. Later, after 2014, I never returned to our colleagues' emails. After the emails came, some of them would be sent back if they really wanted to go back. You will find that sometimes entrepreneurship is very different from your own imagination.


In addition to the flexible display, there is also a flexible sensor technology, which was released in 2014. The sensor technology is to make a lot of transparent circuits and sensors on an ultra-thin film, which can be integrated into us. Clothes, shoes or places with many of our flexible surfaces have a perceptual function, so in fact, on the one hand, soft-wool provides the output of information display, and on the other hand, we provide flexible display input and other perceptual inputs. This is the technology. When this technology was released in 2014, because we were too concerned about flexible displays at the time, many people did not notice this thing. This technology is also a very important technology. Now this technology has been mass-produced and applied to many industries. .


From the 0 to 1 thing, you can see this picture, and part of what we invest in the intellectual property sector. Up to now, our accumulated intellectual property rights have exceeded more than 2,000 core technology intellectual property rights, and most of them are international patents of the PCT.


This picture can clearly summarize our core ideas in the past, horizontally 0 to 1 innovation, from flexible display to flexible sensing, to many product solutions based on "flexible +", many things are completely without reference There is nothing to learn from, it is to think while doing, while trying, and then on the argument. The other axis is the axis from 1 to N. We have mass production of each idea through industrialization, because only after real large-scale industrialization can such technology create value for more industries, can we Our consumers bring benefits.


Now, whether it is display sensing or the solution just mentioned, in fact, it has successfully achieved breakthroughs in two directions. Speaking of the flexible display production line, I would like to mention this production line in particular. This is the large-scale mass production of the flexible platform that we started planning at the end of 2015 and officially launched in 2016 with a total investment of 1.7 billion US dollars. Production line, construction area of nearly 400,000 square meters, the main production area in the middle is about 260,000 square meters, there are some construction process, share with you, do advanced manufacturing, smart hardware is really not an easy The things we started from a piece of grass, weeding to leveling, to the foundation, building production line, and then planning the production line, moving the equipment into our technical route, there are more than 1,000 large and small equipment, and there are Many devices are not yet available directly from the device. Then in the process, we counted, we opened this technical meeting, as well as these production line planning meetings, procurement meetings, etc., add up to more than 3,000 times in two years, our core management team each One needs to go and I can imagine that it is not easy for us to do this.


After the completion of this project, we can see our very modern and automated production line. Here, we can basically fully realize automation and minimize the intervention of people inside. This is the core concept of Industry 4.0 that we call today. Intelligent technology and information technology play a greater role in the current manufacturing industry, not only to improve efficiency, but also to increase its capacity and yield.
