According to the technology website PhoneArena, after several years of retreat, the OLED screen has finally become the new focus of the industry. All kinds of good news, such as the mass production price of OLED is lower than that of traditional LCD and iPhone. In 2017, all kinds of screens in the screen industry have seen new business opportunities. At the moment, they are all spending a lot of money to expand their technology accumulation and capacity in the field of OLED screens.

As one of the traditional iPhone screen suppliers, LG certainly will not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Last year they built their fourth OLED factory in Gumi, South Korea. This year, the company directly invested 400 million US dollars to expand the capacity of its flexible OLED screen, and built an OLED lighting panel production line. In addition, in addition to solidifying its position in the OLED mobile display market, LG has also increased its investment in TV business and continuously enhanced the competitiveness of its own WRGB OLED TV.

At the moment, LG Display has become the company's largest division. It has nine production plants in Korea, China and Poland, with a headquarters staff of 49,000. However, in the first quarter of this year, due to the rise of Chinese LCD manufacturers and the weak global market demand, the department's performance was very ugly, and profits plummeted 99% year-on-year. However, due to the Olympics and new products, LG Display expects its revenue to return to single-digit growth in the second quarter of this year.
