According to the latest data from IHT Technology, the mass production cost of AMOLED LCD panels is now officially lower than that of LCD screens. As expected two years ago, the mass production cost of AMOLED LCD panels has been lower than that of LCD panels in 24 months. A quarterly 5.0-inch 1080p AMOLED screen costs only $14.30 per panel, while LCDs cost $14.6, compared to $17.10 and $15.70 in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The data is based on the mass production cost of LTPS LCD. As the mass production cost of AMOLED is cheaper than that of contemporary LCD products, AMOLED has rapidly spread its application, and entry-level and mid-range models using AMOLED screens have also begun to be popularized. In the future, there will be more devices directly adopting AMOLED screens, which have low energy consumption, bright colors, high contrast and high saturation.
