Ultrathin glass OLED new technology to protect electronic components

                             With the rapid development of the electronics industry, the display tends to develop in the direction of narrow boxes and full screens. OLED technology is the best choice for a full screen. Looking ahead, in order to develop a new bonding technology, ultra-thin glass, and applying curved glass to electronic products, tesa collaborated with partners and carried out the KONFEKT project with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and achieved initial results. .
                             Ultrathin glass with a minimum thickness of 25 microns is thinner than human hair. When the thickness is less than 150 μm, the glass is proven to be bendable and stable. Due to its size flexibility, glass can be rolled into rolls. Compared to other plates, such as plastic, metal, or silicon, ultra-thin glass has a series of outstanding advantages, including excellent optical properties, mechanical resistance, chemical consistency, and temperature stability.

                            In contrast, one of the key issues of OLED technology is that it is susceptible to environmental influences and must be packaged with the highest precision to isolate oxygen and water vapor. According to the UBI Research 2017 OLED packaging annual report, about 70% of OLED panels will use thin film packaging technology (TFE) in 2021. TFE technology temporarily fails to provide 100% protection to OLEDs, and often requires an additional layer of protection. Barrier OCA optical clear tape is suitable for this.
                           We have developed lateral sealing and optically transparent tapes that do not interact with sensitive OLED materials. Ultrathin glass laminates special adhesive layers and delivers them to users. The lateral diffusion of gas and liquid (blocking in the x/y direction) is completely prevented while the component is sealed by the surface glass. The combination of the two materials provides full protection with functional x/y/z direction blocking.

                            We also provide other integrated tape solutions, including flexible AMOLED backplanes, touch sensor bonding and more. The use of these display tapes can also be extended to the automotive industry with stringent requirements that address the functional requirements of adhesive tapes for entertainment systems (such as display screens) and driver assistance systems (such as cameras, sensors, and antennas).
