According to foreign media reports, at the SID’s Display Week 2018 held in Los Angeles, AUO launched the company's highest-resolution and full-color TFT-driven MicroLED display technology.
AU Optronics showcases the highest resolution full color TFT driver MicroLED display
MicroLED technology is used in self-illuminating displays with a MicroLED array structure. This display features high brightness, high contrast, and a wide color gamut. In addition, the MicroLED display offers the following performance improvements, including ultra-thin viewing angle, ultra-thin design, low power consumption, and fast response time.
AUO has demonstrated a full-color 8-inch TFT-driven MicroLED display developed with the LTPS-TFT backplane. The display can independently emit light for each pixel to obtain a fine image with a high dynamic range. In addition, the display consumes less power than other displays of the same size.
AUO said that the display can achieve a pixel density of 169 pixels per inch, and the size of the MicroLED is less than 30 microns. In addition, by incorporating color conversion technology, the display also provides more accurate high dynamic range color performance.
AU Optronics revealed that it will continue to invest in the research and development of resources to ensure the core technology advantages, and thus further development in the future.
