LG Begins Mass Production Of Full-plastic Flexible OLED Display This Summer
- Jun 04, 2018 -

LG Display will mass-produce "really flexible" plastic OLED displays from July this year. Although LG's G Flex 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge smartphones are all equipped with flexible displays, it turns out that there is still room for improvement in flexible displays. The current flexible OLED display is also covered with a thin layer of glass, which limits its radius of curvature to 2.95 inches (75 mm). LG's new technology can produce a flexible display entirely composed of plastic with a radius of curvature of 1.18 inches (30 mm).

In addition to being able to create complex shapes, LG's all-plastic flexible display also has good shatterproof capabilities. Its luminous efficiency is 60 lm/W, its maximum brightness is 75 lumens (807 nits), its color temperature is 3000K, and its color rendering index is higher than 85.

LG is famous for trying new technologies in the equipment, and we can be confident that LG will make full use of its plastic OLED display. Although LG G4 smart phones can't keep up with the use of plastic OLED displays, LG will definitely introduce some interesting products using this technology
