Apple's Mini-LED Screen Mass Production Plan Is Roughly Divided Into Five Phases Or 2023 To Reduce Production Costs

In order to break the strong position of Korean manufacturers in OLED display, Apple is also actively planning to establish a mini LED industry chain.

Now, according to a new report by Tianfeng International's Guo Min 𠓹, Apple's plan for mass production of mini-LED screens is roughly divided into five In the first phase, changes in screen yield and delivery schedule will significantly affect the valuation of the "first supplier" stock, so the supplier will focus on improving the yield of the product. In the second stage, in order to spread the supply risk and reduce the product cost, Apple will actively seek a second supplier of the key components of Mini-LED, and the proportion of the shipment will grow significantly.

In the third phase, mini-LED panel shipments will be driven primarily by macS, not ipads, and we will see Macs with Mini-LED panels in this phase. In the fourth stage, a large number of manufacturers will follow Apple's strategy of promoting mini-LED. In the fifth phase, the production cost of Mini-LED will be significantly improved from 2023 to 2024.

Guo Min 𫓹 also points out in the report that the production cost of Micro LED will improve significantly from 2023 to 2024, so it may become the focus of market attention from 2023. He believes That Apple is developing Micro LED technology, but the current production timeline is not yet

If the Mini LED industry succeeds, it will help more manufacturers to invest in Micro LED design and research and development and help achieve mass production of Micro LED. At this stage, investment opportunities are predicted to come from LED chip suppliers, massive transfer suppliers, packaging suppliers, inspection suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.

MicroLED screens have several advantages over LCD and OLED displays, including being thinner and more energy efficient. MicroLED screens, for example, consume one-tenth of the power of LCD displays and have a color saturation close to OLED.

In addition, microleds can support higher brightness, higher dynamic range and wider color gamut, while also enabling faster update speeds, wider viewing angles and lower power consumption.

Due to the difficulty of developing MicroLED technology, early designs are expected to rely on mini leds, which are midway between traditional LED and MicroLED technology. However, according to previous reports, Apple still considers MicroLED technology a "top priority."
