AUO, a Taiwanese panel maker and semiconductor display technology company, has entered Samsung's MicroLED TV supply chain by providing a glass back panel, and will start shipping in the second half of 2021, industry sources said.
AU Optronics, formerly known as Dacer Technology, was founded in August 1996. It was renamed AU Optronics after the merger with United You Optronics in 2001. In 2006, AU Optronics acquired Guanghui Electronics again. The company has a complete production line of 3.5 to 8.5 generation LCD, offering panels from 1.1 "to 85" for a wide range of display applications.
In 2020, the company shipped 2007.07 million TV panels globally, down 16.9% from 2019; Worldwide shipments of Monitor panels were 25.68 million units, down 11.5 percent from 2019.
TFT-LCD, AMOLED and other new display technologies, including flexible display, their basic technology is semiconductor technology, can be collectively referred to as semiconductor display. Semiconductor display can be defined as the independent control of each minimum display unit through semiconductor devices display technology collectively.
