It is hoped that Corning company will accelerate project construction, strengthen cooperation with Chongqing in the fields of headquarters economy, engineering technology application and modern logistics, and actively carry out scientific and technological innovation and technical personnel training to achieve win-win development. It is understood that since 2015, Corning company and the city to carry out all-round pragmatic cooperation, has invested in the construction of display glass substrate processing project, mother plate distribution center project, display glass substrate front furnace project in Chongqing, has made a contribution to the development of chongqing electronic information industry.
This contract project is the first time corning gorilla glass project layout in mainland China, which plays an important role in promoting chongqing electronic information industry chain reinforcement, chain extension and chain strengthening, and enhancing the toughness and competitiveness of the industrial chain and supply chain.

In recent years, with the development of mobile electronics and automobile industry, the demand for high-performance glass in the global market is increasing, and China has a large number of innovative mobile phone manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and VIVO, which have strong international competitiveness.

With this contract, Corning's hot end process capacity will be greatly enhanced, which will not only increase its product supply capacity to the Chinese market through local production, but also contribute to the high-quality development of chongqing's electronic information industry.

In fact, the cooperation between Liangjiang New Area and Corning company has a long history. In 2015, Corning announced the investment of its second LCD glass factory in Mainland China in Soshui New Town, Liangjiang New Area, which will mainly produce glass substrates of 8.5 generation and above, and officially put into operation in 2017.
In June this year, the two sides signed an agreement again to build a hot end production line for 8.5 generation and above display glass, which will promote the formation of a complete industrial chain from quartz sand, display panels and display terminals in Chongqing.
