At the press conference of the 2023 World Display Industry Conference held in Beijing on August 22, Yang Xudong, deputy director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, introduced that the scale of China's display industry continues to rank first in the world. In 2022, China's display panel output value exceeds 360 billion yuan, accounting for 48% of the world's total; Display panel shipments area of 160 million square meters, the global market accounted for 68.6%, an increase of 5 percentage points, firmly occupy the world's first.
Yang Xudong introduced that China's new display industry has gradually established an important position in the world, and its technical capabilities have been greatly enhanced. In the field of TFT-LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display), China has an international leading advantage, and the mass production capacity of AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode, which is a display technology) has gradually increased. Electronic paper, quantum dots, Mini/Micro LED (sub-millimeter light-emitting diode/microlight-emitting diode), printed display, laser display and other display technologies are accelerating.
In terms of innovation, China has made significant progress in the fields of ultra-thin, flexible, transparent display, 4K/8K ultra-high-definition display, and has successively launched a number of global debut products, and the number of patent applications for display panels has reached 35% globally, ranking first in the world.
Yang Xudong said that China has become one of the countries with the most comprehensive display types, the most active technological innovation and the richest downstream applications. In addition to providing high-quality and affordable products for the world, it also attracts upstream and downstream enterprises of the global industrial chain to invest and build factories in China, and deeply participate in the construction of China's industrial chain.
