Samsung's QD-OLED Will Soon Be Mass-produced, With The First 34, 55 And 65-inch Panels

According to Edaily Korea, Samsung will begin mass production of QD-OLED panels at the end of this month, on November 30. The first batch of qD-OLED panels will be 34-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch panels, with 34-inch panels for monitors and 55-inch and 65-inch panels for TVS.

Edaily Korea, citing industry sources, said Samsung Display CEO Choi Joo-sun recently shared his future plans for Samsung Display with management and employees, as well as the current details, when referring to the latest developments in QD-OLED. 'The yield of QD-OLED panels is good from the start and we expect production to get better and better,' he said, adding that qD-OLED panels will begin full production on Nov. 30.

Cui also mentioned the specific size of the first QD-OLED panels:

"Qd-oled will be mass-produced in 65-inch and 55-inch panels for TVS and 34-inch panels for monitors, and will later decide whether to increase production depending on market response."

Samsung's current qD-OLED display capacity is 30,000 substrates per month, and with MMG production technology, the potential capacity is around 1 million QD-OLED TV panels per year.

It has been reported for two years that Samsung is preparing to mass-produce QD-OLED panels, but there has been no news of cutting. Based on the name, many people would think that QD-OLED is an enhanced version of OLED, which is also normal, because QD-OLED is backlit by blue OLED, so that blue light is produced spontaneously, while red and green light is produced as a quantum film under the impact of blue light.

In theory, this method can both have the good color of quantum dots and theoretically be cheaper than fully self-luminous OLED panels. However, THE price of QD-OLED at the beginning of the market should also be relatively expensive.
