Having been engaged in the R&D and production of small-size LCD modules for nearly eight years, I have come into contact with numerous display products for wearables, medical devices, and industrial control. The one that impresses me the most is our 1.83 Inch Rounded Square TFT LCD Display-it does not have fancy parameter stacking, but fits the pain points of actual mass production and terminal use in every detail, which is the core reason why it has become the flagship model of our factory. When many customers test samples for the first time, they will be amazed by its "hand feel" and display effect. In fact, this amazement is entirely due to our repeated polishing of technical details, not just the superposition of specifications.

Let's talk about the display effect first, which is the core competitiveness of small-size screens. This 1.83 Inch Rounded Square TFT LCD Display adopts a resolution of 240×284, matched with a 1.83-inch diagonal size, resulting in a pixel density of approximately 203 PPI. Some people may think this value is not top-notch, but in actual use, you will find that its text sharpness, icon delicacy, and even color saturation are better than those of competitors with the same specifications. We have conducted many actual tests. Under strong outdoor light, even without adding an additional anti-glare coating, the small fonts on the screen are still clearly visible. This is due to our special calibration of the IPS panel-unlike conventional TN panels on the market, which suffer from color shift and sharp contrast loss once deviating from the front viewing angle, the IPS technology of our module truly achieves 360-degree viewing without dead angles. Even when the screen is turned to nearly 90 degrees, the color deviation can be controlled within ΔE < 2, which is crucial for wrist-worn devices. After all, no one will keep looking at the screen on their wrist in a fixed posture. More importantly, the transmissive normally black IPS panel we adopt can present true pure black without the common backlight bleeding problem. This not only improves the visual texture but also reduces power consumption invisibly. This is a special optimization we made according to the battery life pain points of customers when cooperating with wearable device clients for a long time.

We struggled for a long time in choosing the driver IC, and finally settled on the NV3030B. This chip may not be the most popular on the market, but it is definitely the most suitable for this 1.83 Inch Rounded Square TFT LCD Display. As a TFT controller with built-in RAM, it natively supports 240×RGB×320 pixels, while our module only uses 240×284 of them. The excess RAM margin can make the screen switch more smoothly without freezes or motion blur-which has been unanimously recognized by our customers cooperating with development platforms such as ESP32 and Raspberry Pi. Moreover, it supports both landscape and portrait initialization modes, eliminating the need for customers to modify additional code and greatly reducing development costs. We have conducted compatibility tests ourselves. From Arduino to STM32, and then to the Jetson series, this module can be seamlessly adapted, and even no additional level shifters are needed. Both 3.3V and 5V logic levels can directly drive it. Behind this is our repeated debugging of the chip pin definition and in-depth understanding of the interface needs of different development platforms. After all, as a factory, we understand customers' need to "avoid detours" best.

Power consumption and environmental adaptability are another major advantage of this 1.83 Inch Rounded Square TFT LCD Display, and also the focus of our optimization based on years of mass production experience. Many modules of the same size on the market use 6 LED backlights to pursue brightness, with power consumption soaring to more than 100mA. However, we adopt a parallel design of 4 white LEDs, each consuming only 20mA, and the total power consumption is only 80mA at full brightness. Combined with the low power consumption characteristics of the normally black panel, it can increase the battery life of wearable devices by about 15%. We once had a customer making outdoor fitness trackers who reported that the previous module used would have screen flickering and slow response in low-temperature environments. We sent this module to them for testing, and it ran continuously for 72 hours in an outdoor environment of -20℃, and the screen was still stable without any abnormalities-this is due to our wide-temperature design of the module. The operating temperature range of -20℃ to +70℃ and the storage temperature range of -30℃ to +80℃ are not randomly marked parameters, but achieved by adjusting the panel materials and packaging process after hundreds of high and low-temperature cycle tests in our laboratory. It is especially suitable for products that may face extreme environments such as outdoor wearables, industrial handheld devices, and medical equipment.

There is also the highly recognizable rounded square (squircle) design. Many people think it is only a difference in appearance, but it actually contains our in-depth understanding of product experience. A square screen can maximize the use of display area and improve information density, but the right-angle design will be uncomfortable to wear on the wrist and easy to scratch during assembly; a circular screen is comfortable, but it will waste the pixel space in the corners. We repeatedly adjusted the radius of the rounded corners, and the final shape not only reduces the invalid pixels in the corners but also ensures the comfort of wearing. Moreover, this design has a high-end feel. Now many mainstream smartwatch brands are adopting it, and our module is also used by many customers to create differentiated products because of this design.

As for customization services, unlike our peers who list a bunch of optional items, we provide full-process adaptation from prototype verification to mass production according to customers' actual needs. For example, for FPC customization, we will accurately adjust the length, shape, and even the size and spacing of the gold fingers according to the customer's PCB layout to ensure the stability of the bonding area and avoid ACF bonding short circuits and bending fractures-once a medical device customer needed to embed the module into a small ECG monitor with extremely limited space. We specially optimized the bending area of the FPC, adopting RA copper material and anti-tear line design, so that the bending life of the FPC reaches more than 100,000 times, perfectly adapting to the assembly needs of the device. In addition, for touch panel integration and coating treatment of the cover glass, we will give suggestions according to the customer's product scenario. For example, anti-fingerprint coating is recommended for medical devices, and high-brightness backlight is recommended for outdoor devices. These are not standardized solutions, but the experience we have accumulated over the years of cooperating with customers in different industries.

In fact, the answer is simple: we do not pursue the stacking of parameters, but implement every technical detail into the actual use scenario, and take customers' pain points as our optimization direction. From the viewing angle calibration of the IPS panel, the adaptation and debugging of the NV3030B chip, to the optimization of power consumption and appearance, every step integrates our practical experience, which is the core difference between it and the "template-based" modules on the market.
