On September 19, the 2023 Global Laser Display Technology and Industry Development Conference released the "2023 Laser display industry high-quality Development White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White paper").
The "White Paper" shows that laser display is rising in the application scenario. Mainstream application scenarios achieved year-on-year growth of 20%-40%. According to the "White Paper", the mainstream application scenarios of laser display household, engineering, business, and education continued to advance in the first half of this year, respectively, harvesting 20%-40% year-on-year growth. More than 60% of the projectors in Chinese movie theaters have been upgraded to laser light sources. In emerging scenes such as Internet celebrity catering, outdoor camping, and smart blogging, the laser display achieved more than 2 times the scale growth in the first half of this year.
"Technological advantages are obvious, the integration of the industrial chain is enhanced, the application space of the scene is opened, and the market recognition is heating up. The laser display has come to the critical point of outbreak, and the opportunity for future growth is huge. Once the critical point is broken, there will be explosive growth." Ouyang Zhongcan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said.
Ouyang Zhongcan said that with the integration of digital display and holographic display, the application scenario of laser display has also shifted from indoor to outdoor, from individuals to groups, and from one-way output to intelligent interaction. Laser display has become the best display carrier for home, industrial, commercial, education, vehicle, AR and other application scenarios.
Xu Zuyan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, introduced that display technology from monochrome to three-color, from gaseous laser to semiconductor laser, only three-color laser display technology can fully reach the international standard of ultra-high-definition display BT.2020, and will become the mainstream of the ultra-high-definition display era in the future. In laser TV, laser movie projectors, laser engineering projection, near-eye display and vehicle display is expected to create 100 billion scale emerging industries.
Zhou Haiyan, the second-level inspector of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, believes that with the profound changes in consumer demand, laser display technology and its products not only meet the consumer needs of large-screen, high-end, intelligent and green, but also have broad application prospects in the conference, education, engineering, vehicle, aviation, virtual reality and other scenes. She said that in the next three years, China's laser display will achieve a comprehensive leap from technology leadership to industry leadership.
"Laser display, as a new quality productivity of the next generation of display technology, is the forerunner of a new round of scene revolution and the best breakthrough to achieve the future full scene intelligent life." Li Wei, president of Hisense Video Technology Co., LTD., said that Hisense has set up three scene research centers for home, business and vehicle, and will gather global designer groups and new media visual teams in the future, and join hands with automobile brands to continuously create creative Spaces for immersive experiences.
High-end manufacturing "sea" new business cards
Data show that in the past two years, the number of core enterprises in the global laser display upstream and downstream industry chain has doubled, growing from 100 in 2021 to more than 200 today.
"With the comprehensive improvement of the laser display industry chain, the formation of laser display industrial cluster, laser display industry chain gathering place, China will become the global laser display 'Silicon Valley'." Academician Xu Zuyan said that China's laser TV has a global market share of more than 50%, and a number of leading brands such as Hisense, Changhong, Fengmi, nuts and Zhongke Aurora have emerged.
According to the White Paper, laser display has become a business card for China's high-end manufacturing. According to the White Paper, in the first half of 2023, laser TV sales in Singapore, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and other "Belt and Road" countries showed multifold growth, an increase of up to 266%. Taking Hisense as an example, its laser TV covers 250 mainstream channels in more than 90 countries, such as BestBuy in the United States, Costco, and Boulanger in France, with a compound annual growth rate of 144% since 2019.
The explosion of laser TV scene applications has also attracted many global brands to join. "In 2022, we realize that the market share of laser TV is gradually increasing." Siegmund Dukek, managing director of Leica Camera Greater China, said Leica's first laser TV, Leica Cine 1, will soon be available.
Academician Ouyang Zhongcan said that Chinese enterprises have promoted the laser TV category from 0 to 1, from weak to prosperous, dominated the iterative process of laser TV from 4K to 8K, from monochrome to three-color, and led the development direction of innovative forms of laser TV such as folding and curly screens. Particularly commendable is that Chinese enterprises have successfully cracked the laser spot dissipation technology, upgraded the viewing experience of laser TV, and filled the international gap.
Global intellectual property comprehensive information service provider IPRdaily and incoPat Innovation Index Research center recently jointly released the laser projection display technology patent list shows that the number of laser display patents applied for and authorized in China accounted for 63%, leading the world.
