Lei Peng said that the Micro LED display has the advantages of self-illumination, high efficiency, low power consumption, high integration, high stability and all-weather operation. It is the mainstream direction of the next generation of display technology, and its application will be more popular. It will constantly give birth to new application scenarios and consumer markets, and help people live a better life.
However, the existing technology can not fully meet the development needs of Micro LED technology. At present, there are technical bottlenecks in the research and development of materials and devices. The massive transfer technology for industrial application is still not fully mastered. MOCVD and other equipment that meet the mass production requirements of Micro LED are still completely dependent on imports.
Lei Peng stressed that the Ministry of Science and Technology has always attached great importance to technological innovation in the new display field and has been supporting related research since the 13th Five-Year Plan period. In particular, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, research tasks in the new display field have been centrally deployed through the national key research and development plan and the key special project of strategic advanced electronic materials.
Lei Peng pointed out that the Ministry of Science and Technology will further support the new display field of technological breakthroughs, in the national key research and development plan, respectively in the material, information, manufacturing field layout. First, in the field of materials, we set up a key project of new display and strategic electronic materials, and laid out key materials and devices of Micro LED. Second, the new equipment technology of Micro LED is laid out in the manufacturing field. Third, it advanced the display and interactive application technology of Micro LED in the field of information to accelerate the breakthrough of Micro LED equipment, materials and applications.
