According to industry observers, Huaxing Optoelectronics (CSOT) is increasing its TV and mobile phone panel production capacity, aiming to become the third largest supplier in these two industries in the short term.
Huaxing Optoelectronics began operating its first 11th generation LCD panel production line (t6 project) in November 2018, and will begin mass production in March 2019. The monthly production capacity of the substrate is up to 90,000. The T6 plant will focus on producing large-size panels including 43-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch models.
At the same time, Huaxing Optoelectronics has two other 8.5G fabs, t1 and t2, which are currently operating at full capacity with 160,000 and 155,000 substrates per month.
In addition, Huaxing Optoelectronics signed a contract with the Shenzhen government to set up a second 11G plant called t7 to produce 65-inch, 70-inch and 75-inch oversized 8K panels and AMOLED panels in 2021.
As for small and medium-sized panels, Huaxing Optoelectronics plans to start the 6G LTPS-AMOLED production line (t4) in 2019, producing 45,000 substrates per month. Since the existing 6G LTPS-LCD production line (t3) is currently operating at full capacity (with a capacity of 45,000 substrates), the capacity of the t4 plant is required.
According to sources, the 4t production line uses an evaporation machine from Japan's Cannon Tokki, which will bypass the production of rigid OLED products and directly produce flexible AMOLED panels and PMOLED panels.
At the same time, Huaxing Optoelectronics will also produce TV modules and smart display products at its parent company TCL's production line in an industrial park in Tirupati, India. It is reported that the TV module production line plans to produce 8 million TV panels, including 22-inch to 55-inch TV panels, and 30 million small and medium-sized (3.5-inch to 8-inch) TV panels, while smart display projects need to be TCL and Other Indian brands produce 6 million TVs.
