At the 2021 TCL Global Ecological Partnership Conference held on Sept 9, TCL released its global ecological cooperation development strategy "Rising Sun Plan". In the next five years, TCL will invest more than 20 billion YUAN in intelligent terminals, semiconductor display and materials, semiconductor photovoltaic and semiconductor materials industries to build an industrial ecosystem with global partners and promote industrial innovation and upgrading.
Based on this plan, TCL founder and Chairman Li Dongsheng set an agenda for TCL's future development: "We are determined to make TCL Technology and TCL Industry truly one of the world's top 500 companies within five years, strive to make the three core industries of intelligent terminal, semiconductor display and semiconductor photovoltaic a global leader, and make other industries such as semiconductor materials leading in China and the industry."
We launched the "Rising Sun Plan" worth over 20 billion yuan to jointly build industrial ecology
At present, TCL has formed three core businesses: intelligent terminal business with TCL Industry as the core, semiconductor display and materials business with TCL Huaxing as the core, and semiconductor photovoltaic and semiconductor materials business with Zhonghuan as the core. TCL's global ecological cooperation and development strategy "Rising Sun Plan" is also closely related to these three core industries.
It is understood that in the next five years, not less than 20 billion yuan, TCL will invest in the intelligent terminal, display and semiconductor materials, semiconductor photovoltaic and semiconductor industries, by participating in industry standards, open technology and data platform, strategic business cooperation and joint research and development, industrial investment, industrial ecology with global partners, We will work together to promote industrial innovation and upgrading.
Specifically, in the field of intelligent terminals, TCL will work with its partners to build technology, network, content services and other capabilities to build a smart space ecology. In terms of technology, we will jointly promote the improvement of global leading display technology, AI, cloud platform, connectivity and other intelligent capabilities. In terms of network, we will jointly build a global user and sales network as well as a delivery network of manufacturing, supply and r&d. In terms of content service, we will jointly build content service scenarios and solutions with families and enterprises as the core.
Du Juan, CEO of TCL Industry, said that today, it is impossible to meet consumers' personalized and diversified functional and emotional needs by going it alone, so it is imperative to build an ecological capability circle. In the next five years, TCL will purchase 400 billion yuan and invest 30 billion yuan in R&D.
In the field of semiconductor display and materials, TCL Huaxing will develop new materials, equipment and technologies through the construction of industrial chain standards, the establishment of a national innovation center, the establishment of brand joint laboratory, and industry-university-research cooperation in research and development. At the same time with the Internet and terminal enterprises to jointly expand new products, new applications, new scenarios.
Jin 旴 Zhi, SENIOR vice president of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL Huaxing, said that in the next five years, TCL Huaxing will invest more than 10 billion yuan in the core links of the display industry chain, comprehensively improve the core competitiveness of China's display industry and lead the development of the global semiconductor display industry.
In the field of semiconductor photovoltaic and semiconductor materials, CMC Semiconductor will promote the healthy development of the industry, enhance the application space of photovoltaic energy, and achieve global carbon emission reduction and green development through in-depth cooperation with photovoltaic Smart Alliance and 600W + Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance.
To build two Fortune 500 companies in five years
This year, TCL marks its 40th anniversary. After 40 years of development, TCL has developed from a small factory production tape place for global technology manufacturing industry group, from only a tape production, the product throughout the whole category of intelligent terminal, communication, household appliances and then will extend to the semiconductor industry, photovoltaic and semiconductor materials based on the core technology industries.

At a time when uncertainties such as the global epidemic and geopolitical frictions are intensifying and global scientific and technological innovation is entering ecological competition, TCL's launch of "Rising Sun Project" also marks the beginning of a new round of reform and innovation. On the one hand, the "Rising Sun Plan" aims to promote the core competitiveness of China's science and technology industry and the development of the global pan-semiconductor industry. Taking smart terminal business as an example, based on the five-year plan of "Leading the world in smart Terminals" proposed by Li Dongsheng, TCL announced that it would build the world's leading intelligent Internet of things ecosystem and jointly build a comprehensive energy ecological cube with its partners. In 2025, smart terminal business revenue will reach 250 billion yuan, overseas revenue will account for 60%, innovation business will account for 30%.
Li Dongsheng said that the current global industrial environment is facing a new round of headwinds, Chinese enterprises should continue to deeply integrate into the global industrial ecology with a more open and cooperative mentality, and contribute their own strength. Based on this, TCL will continue to develop its ecological strategy and accelerate to become a global leader in the pan-semiconductor industry.
