According to the semiconductor industry, UmC has recently obtained a large order of Samsung's 28-nanometer OLED driver IC, and Samsung's OLED driver IC purchased from Taiwan IC Design Factory has also been put into production in UmC, with a total monthly production capacity of more than 10,000 pieces. Due to the higher gross profit of OLED driver IC, umC's revenue and profit can be fed into the second half of the year. OLED driver IC is not only applied in middle and high order mobile phones, but also penetrated into more applications such as pen and TV, which is expected to drive umC's capacity utilization rate of 28 nm to maintain full load.
In response to the demand for orders, UMC announced the day before yesterday that from October last year to February 7 this year, the equipment acquired in Taiwan reached A total of NT $1.495 billion, while Xiamen Lianxin plant obtained NT $1.256 billion. According to umC's production expansion plan, the newly announced equipment should acquire equipment with a demand of 28 nanometre. Umc nanke Fab 12A P5 plant plans to increase its production capacity by 10,000 pieces in the second quarter, which is equal to Samsung's large single capacity. Xiamen plant will also increase production capacity by 10,000 pieces; Nanke Fab 12A P6 will expand capacity to 32,500 units in the second quarter of next year.
